This photograph by Julia Paul is from the series Still Life, begun in 2022, which includes images of forest ephemera that are both representational and abstracted, exploring the tension between revealing and concealing. The series is produced using alternative digital processes, without the use of filters, special lighting, or color corrections. The in-camera effects results in the subversion the usual photographic system of color, focus, and perspective.
